Jeffery Greenblatt

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory
Sustainable Energy Systems Group
Dr. Jeffery Greenblatt’s research focuses in two complementary areas: large-scale, multi-sector, multi-decadal modeling of greenhouse gas reduction strategies at the local, state or national level, and more fine-grained analysis of specific emerging technologies that hold promise for reducing greenhouse gas emissions while enhancing convenience, safety or human potential. On the former topic, he has been involved with modeling pathways of California's low-carbon energy future since 2009, publishing a number of studies that have received attention in the Sacramento policy community and elsewhere. In emerging technologies, he has mainly focused on artificial photosynthesis (sponsored by DOE's Joint Center for Artificial Photosynthesis) and autonomous vehicles. For the latter topic, he published a prominent paper in Nature Climate Change in 2015 on the greenhouse gas benefits of autonomous taxis. He continues to explore other innovative technology ideas, including those relevant to the commercialization of space.Dr. Greenblatt has almost 15 years of experience in climate change and low-carbon energy technology assessment and modeling. Prior to joining LBNL in 2009, Dr. Greenblatt worked at Google on the RE
